Our private studio at The Hive in Scott’s Addition provides clients with a relaxed environment. We pride ourselves in listening to each guest and understanding their needs while using creativity and intuition to design the best style. Our stylists value continuing education to ensure we are up to date on current trends and stay adept at the craft of hair. Our products are designed with sustainability in mind and are environmentally friendly. Helio is an inclusive salon where we welcome all people and proudly offer gender-free pricing. Master Stylist—Level 4
Christy graduated from VCU in 1997 with a degree in fine arts. As she was completing her BFA in painting & printmaking, she began her love of painting and cutting hair. Christy’s career grew at the top salons in the Richmond area as she quickly became a master stylist, color specialist, cosmetology instructor, and an education team leader. Christy is the owner of Helio Salon and her specialty lies in hair color. Her diverse background of color began by attending classes at Framesi Color College in Barcelona, Wella World Studio in NYC and countless color classes with Aveda, Logics, Schwarzkopf, Paul Mitchell, Redken, Keune, and Davines. Christy’s cutting experience includes multiple classes at Bumble and Bumble in New York City.
Christy enjoys being a mom and going to swim meets and soccer games with her amazing wife. Her experience and dedication to the art of hair is evident.

Stylist—Level 2
Katie is a graduate from James Madison University with a BA and MA in English. After a short amount of time teaching at a local private school she quickly realized her passion for haircutting especially razor cutting, shags, and those simple-but-complex textured bobs. Recently, she has been inspired by several hands-on cutting classes—Corey King’s precision cutting, Davines shag haircuts, Allilon Curly Hair masterclass and a modern mullet cutting class.
When she’s not busy making hair magic, you can find her zipping around the Fan on her bike with her wonderful husband, Ian—usually in hot pursuit of the perfect sandwich. She also spends her downtime herding her curious cats away from water glasses and enjoying Desperate Housewives while crocheting.

Stylist- Level 1
Erika is a service industry veteran with over a decade of working in the Richmond restaurant scene and 3+ years experience in a several salons. Creativity is her eminent drive; with her favorite color techniques being color-blocking, bleach & tone, and fashion coloring. Haircutting wise, she thrives in texturized hair cutting with various tools. Ultimately she finds herself passionate about putting her expertise to work and making people happy.
She has taken numerous hair cutting + color classes at the Aveda Institute out of Washington D.C. and is now continuing her education and career under Christy Moseley at Helio.
Outside of the salon, you'll likely catch her seeing live local music, walking her best dog bud Mowgli, or sitting on a patio with food & drink in hand.

All color pricing includes one toner, conditioning treatments, Olaplex if necessary, and blow drying.
Fashion colors, color correction, and all over bleach may require multiple colors and toner therefore requires additional fees + time.

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, a fee of 50% of the scheduled service cost will apply. For cancellations within 24 hours, the full service amount will be charged.
